Colston's 1st XI achieve notable victory over the MCC
On a grey, wet and murky day Colston's cricket had its best day in recent times. So far this season the Colston's 1st XI has had a mixed season. The bowling and fielding have been consistently tight but the batting had yet to catch fire.

Following a sumptuous early lunch due to the inclement weather, Colston's opening bowlers were met by a barrage of attacking drives and pull shots by the MCC's opening batsman R. Glynne-Jones who raced to 45 in very quick time before he was caught behind by wicket keeper Simon Rendell off the bowling of Jonathon Roper. Colston's bowlers then managed to gain some control over the MCC batting, taking wickets at regular intervals thanks mainly to the spin bowling of Matthew Evans and Sam Cockram. Colston's had a very disappointing last five overs conceding 49 runs as the MCC declared on 218 for 5 leaving K. Lock 55 not out.

Captain Buster Lawrence dominating the MCC bowling attack in the third wicket stand of 95 with Matt Thatcher |

Colston's started their innings slowly and lost both Jon Roper and Simon Rendell for three runs before a third wicket stand of 95 between Matt Thatcher and captain Buster Lawrence put Colston's in a reasonably strong postion. However, as Colston's built their total they continued to lose wickets at the wrong times, with Matthew Thatcher scoring 79, Buster Lawrence 35 and Oliver King Sorrell 44. However, the heroes of the XL CLub victory last week were about to stride to the wicket. Will Burton and George Thomas finished the job, with Burton hitting his last three balls for six. Colston's won with eight balls to spare.
Colston's now need to build on this performance on Saturday at home to Prior Park.
Marylebone Cricket Club 218 for 5
Matthew Evans 3 for 55
Colston's School 221 for 6
Matt Thatcher 79
Oliver King Sorrell 44
Buster Lawrence 35
Adam Graveney 3 for 52
