All were welcomed by the Senior Teacher, Dr Julie Tovey, and then the headmaster, Peter Fraser, who highlighted the key issues regarding progression from GCSE to A level study. There then followed brief talks by four current members of the sixth form: Billie Williams, Jon Roper, Fi Morris and Alex Haynes, who spoke about their studies and the variety of activities in which they are currently involved, including the new Colston’s Community Project, sport, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and public speaking competitions.

Thereafter, students and parents visited departmental bases, in the course of which they saw many of the fantastic facilities available to sixth formers: the Humanities Block, the new Science labs, the library and, of course, the recently refurbished Sixth Form Centre.

Plenty of opportunity to meet staff and sixth formers |
|
The next step will be the Taster Morning later on this term, when students will get the chance to experience a full lesson in a subject in which they are interested. This is, of course, also open to students not currently at Colston’s; indeed, they can arrange a Taster Day at any time, by telephoning the school and asking for Mrs Denise Sollis, the Headmaster’s PA.
