Bristol Schools' Cross Country
As part of an annual 'tradition' of sorts, the week leading up to this year's Bristol Schools' Cross Country Championships was one of dismal weather with near continuous rain. As a result of this, conditions underfoot at the BGS grounds at Failand were muddy and marsh-like, much to the joy of the girls' teams.
Races began promptly at 2:00pm with the Year 7 girls' race, in which Colston's was pleased to experience instant success in the form of Megan Long achieving 5th place and qualifying her to compete in the Avon Schools' Cross Country Championships. Following on from this was the Year 7 boys' race, in which Callum Prescott also won qualification as a result of coming 8th, whilst also indicating the strength of this year's year 7s as cross country runners.

Aside from the year 7s, others qualifying for the Avon Schools' were Hannah Cockram (year 8) who came 5th, and Maria Jones (year 9) who came 2nd, both in the Junior Girls' category, and Alice Carpenter (U6) who came 2nd in the Senior Girls'.
Overall, with 5 qualifying, the day can be said to have been a resounding success in spite of the mud.
