From the 29th March until the 2nd April Mr Eyles and a group of ten pupils pupils plus Mrs Parry and her son and daughter went to a salt water lake at Southport to gain either their initial sailing qualifications or, for some, to enhance their experience in a variety of craft in a safe environment.

They all stayed in a centre on the waterside and had the excellent services of Mrs Parry (who kept everyone fed and watered and took many of the pictures) and Nathan Scarll (a senior dinghy instructor) and Stephen Freedman (an officer in the CCF) as well as Mr Eyles who not only organized the trip but also instructed on it.
They were able to use a wide variety of craft, supplied by the CCF Naval division, and all the pupils managed to achieve an RYA national certificate at various levels.
The pupils, yet again, behaved very well managing to balance many hours of lectures and practical sailing each day with an overall relaxed and happy attitude.
