Once again the Book Club is shadowing the Carnegie Medal which is awarded annually to the writer of an outstanding book for children.

We started in November with a longlist of 52 books and thought it was a very impressive selection. We compiled our own shortlist and were somewhat surprised when the official shortlist of 8 books was announced in April as it was missing most of our favourites.

Currently we are debating the relative merits of these books and posting reviews and a blog on the Carnegie website before having a ballot at the end of May to try and predict the national winner.
