| Charities update
Over the past few weeks the Charities’ Committee has been very busy organising a number of events in support of our chosen charities, Afrikids and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Our most recent event was the ‘Mile of Pennies’ competition which was held on Friday 12th May.
Pupils from all year groups competed for their House to create the longest ‘snake’ of coins up the drive, with house points awarded for the longest. The counting took the committee quite a while, as you can imagine, but the totals are finally in!
The results of the competition were as follows:
1st: Roundway (raising £106)
2nd. Dolphin £67
3rd. Aldington £51
4th. Kings £41
A big thank you to everyone who got involved and raised a total of £265. Not bad for one lunchtime’s work!
AFRIKIDS
We have been very pleased to hear news of how our money has been spent by Afrikids at the Zuarungu Children’s Centre in Ghana. The photo shows children receiving new school bags funded by Colston’s.

We are looking forward to a visit from Afrikids’ Sarah Devine, who has recently returned from Ghana to address the school later this term. Dates and further information will follow.
GRAND CHARITY AUCTION
We are now busy planning our final charity event of the academic year, a charity auction to be held on Monday 3rd July. Obviously, the success of this event depends largely on the generosity of the school community, but we have already received several exciting lots for auction, including a week in a French gite, health club memberships, beauty treatments and many more.
We are particularly looking for good quality new or second hand goods and sporting memorabilia and are also appealing to local businesses to provide vouchers or promises. Please deposit any donations in the box provided in reception and remember to include your name and contact details. There will also be an opportunity for businesses to advertise in the catalogue for the evening itself.
Further details about tickets etc. will follow at a later date.
If you would like further information on this event, please contact Mrs Vaughan.
