Colston’s chosen again to host Flintoff cricket academy

For the fourth consecutive year Colston’s School was chosen by former Test all-rounder Andrew Flintoff to play host to young cricketers from schools throughout Bristol.

Sixty-seven boys and girls aged from 5-14 took part in the five-day Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy in partnership with The Co-operative Food.

They were grouped by age, ability and experience, and worked with ECB qualified coaches. The programme included mini-tournaments and specialist sessions, and there was also time for swimming sessions in the Colston’s pool.

New Zealand test batsman Lou Vincent was a special guest.

Andrew said: “I feel a close affinity with our Bristol academy at Colston’s School since taking part in the inaugural year just after that amazing Ashes victory at Lord’s, and it’s very encouraging to see the growth of interest across the city.

“Our close partnership with Colston’s is playing an important part in raising standards among boys and girls in Bristol.”
