FILLING THAT GAP

Members of the Lower Sixth enjoyed a presentation on Gap Year opportunities on Friday 5 May.
Peter Roe, from the World-Wide Volunteering Organisation, demonstrated the WWV website which highlights how to find volunteer placements that exactly suit sixth formers’ interests and budgets.

Then Louise Milne, an Old Colstonian now studying English and Music at Cardiff University, and Catherine from Bristol University talked about their experiences in South America, backed up by vivid visual aids.
Finally, Chris Winston from the Gables School of Cookery explained how a month- long cookery course could open up all sorts of opportunities for gap year employment – from ski-chalet work to catering on yachts
All in all, this was a most useful session, well received by the students.
