On Sunday 23rd January 7 pupils took to the Kennet and Avon Canal in training for their kayaking expedition in the summer. The students are all working towards their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, and the day out was designed to be a first taste of paddling in their boats.
Initial attempts at paddling resulted in much zig-zagging across the canal, but the pupils soon got to grips with the boats and good progress was made towards Bradford upon Avon.
Despite the cold temperatures, group morale remained high and we now look forward to safety and rescue training when the weather and water warms up.
