King's House year 7s scale the heights at Undercover Rock in St Werberghs

King's House took their year 7 tutor group to Undercover Rock - the Climbing Centre in St. Werburghs on Monday 3rd October from 4.45 until 6.30pm and they all had a fantastically energetic time.

Miss Wyatt and Mr. Gwilliam were accompanied by several sixth formers and prefects who watched in bewildered awe at some of the children,  who scaled the heights of this converted inner city church with agility and fearlessness.

Here are some of the children’s comments on the evening and their excitement and enjoyment speaks for itself.

Miss Wyatt (Year 7 tutor) would like to thank all staff and sixth form students who came along to marvel at the experience and also her well behaved, albeit sweaty, tutor group who took part in the adrenalin rush that is the ‘Undercover Rock’ climbing wall.

The Climbing Wall by Joe Baker
On the 3rd October Year 7 King's went to the climbing wall. We were put into teams and I was with George and Ryan and of course me! When I tried at first I found it hard but after a couple of gos I got the hang of it. The climbing wall was great and I would love to do it again.

The climbing trip on Monday was amazing! We climbed really high and it was ever so much fun! We were allowed to use as many different walls as we wanted and it was an excellent night out.

The climbing was amazing! It was great to get to know more about the people in my tutor group. Last time I went climbing I didn’t get to the top of one of the walls but I really pushed myself and got to the top! Overall it was a great experience.

On Monday we went to a climbing wall.  It was so much fun and very exciting. We went on big walls, smaller walls and a room with tiny walls and a soft floor. It was a really nice evening and I’m sure everyone enjoyed it.

Climbing Wall by Ryan Cornelius
On Monday 3rd October, Year 7 went to the Undercover Climbing Centre. At first we went on the small wall to practice then we went on the big wall. I felt like I was going to slip and fall all the time. At the end it was like a race to the top – Joe versus Taps – It was neck and neck but at the end Joe won! Then we went home.
