Colston's pupils savour the delights of the Rheinland

The annual study visit to Boppard took place again in July this year. Here are some comments from a couple of the pupils who went.
The German trip was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The weather was beautiful and I got many opportunities to speak the language. I learnt things that just cannot be learnt in the classroom. We stayed in the picturesque village of Boppard. We walked up a hill and took in the beautiful scenery. We went on a fantastic cruise down the River Rhine, and went to Phantasialand, a theme park. I made loads of new friends and I’ll never forget this trip! - Emma

We left Bristol at 5:30am on Thursday 5th and got on the ferry at 11. It was my first time on a ferry and I really enjoyed it. On Friday we went into Boppard where all the buildings were beautiful. It was too windy to go on a chairlift so we had to walk up a steep hill, but it was worth it to see such an amazing view. We then went to a really nice swimming pool with slides, fountains, inflatables and so much more.
Saturday was probably the best day – we went to the theme park, Phantasialand. Helen and Emma went with me on the new ride “Toclan” which spun upside down. When we asked the boys if they’d been on it, they said they didn’t have time, but they were obviously scared. I also went on the exciting Black Mamba ride five times!
On the Sunday we had an amazing boat trip on the Rhine and looked round a huge castle, going down underground tunnels with torches.
I had a great time in Germany and managed to improve my German a bit, too. - Charlotte
