CHARITY EVENT

Roundway House raising hopes for Bristol Children’s Hospital

During the week beginning 12th March Roundway House ran its first ever Charity Week, a week of fundraising events that saw the sixth form lead teams of pupils in the creation of a fun-filled week of action, aimed to make as much money as possible for the oncology ward at The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

All of the money raised will go towards helping to maintain the children’s education while they are in hospital.

We have now tallied up and we are proud to announce that Roundway has raised £1455.17 for the Children’s Hospital Wallace & Gromit Appeal.

On the 29th June Mrs Yaxley, who works at the Children’s ward, came to speak to the Roundwegians in our weekly House meeting.

She was most grateful for the considerable donation and explained to the students what the money will go towards. “A fantastic classroom is being generated at present for the boys and girls who require education at the hospital”, she explains, “it is so important for the children to have some sort of routine and normality to help them cope with the difficulties their treatment brings”.

It is so easy to take for granted our education: the ease of getting to school, and the provision at Colston’s. It is vital for us to take the time to consider those pupils less fortunate than ourselves.

I would like to thank Mrs Yaxley for speaking to Roundway this morning and to all pupils, staff and parents who have supported Roundway’s fundraising throughout the year.
