Inter House Athletics Competition

Sports Day 2007

Another successful athletics season for Colston’s was brought to a close on Thursday with the Inter House Athletics competition.

Fortunately a gap in the clouds appeared just long enough to produce a most enjoyable afternoon with Dolphin finishing overall winners closely followed by Aldington and Kings with Roundway bringing up the rear despite having some fine individual performances, particularly from Ian Clark who ran 11.66 secs to break the Intermediate boys 100m record (an excellent time for a Yeay 9 pupil running on grass).

Athlete of the day was Esmae Lear, who broke both the 100m and Long Jump record for the Junior Girls. County and National athlete Ding Yang broke his own record for the Inter Boys Long Jump with a leap of 6.18 metres and Jack Hughes equaled the Junior Boys 800m record (2.25), although still a Year 7 pupil.

Excellent support was given by the 6th form students who helped to run the event.
