Year 8 trip to "Mathemagic" exhibition and lecture at Techniquest in Cardiff
On Friday 25th June, as an opportunity to enrich the mathematics curriculum, the mathematics department took the whole of Year 8 to the “Mathamagic” exhibition and lecture at Techniquest in Cardiff.
The exhibition consisted of an interactive 45 minute presentation in Techniquest’s science theatre where the pupils looked at topics such as probability, algebra, computing, binary numbers, topology shape and mental arithmetic. This was followed by time in both the Techniquest and Mathamagic exhibition centre, where there were many activities, including transformations, tessellation, symmetry, sequences, operations and logic games.

3 pupils, Harriet Young, Nikita Ali and Hannah Wadey, showed excellent skills in problem solving and logic as they managed to work out a puzzle only 1 other schools has managed to do this year! Well done.
