Old Colstonians included in England Squad for Autumn Internationals
Congratulations to Colstonians Alex Brown and Lee Mears who have been included in Andy Robinson's full England Rugby squad for the autumn internationals against Australia, New Zealand and Somoa. Both players have played for England in Churchill Cup games but have yet to gain full caps. Let's hope they join the list of Old Colstonians who have represented their country at full international level.
Link to other Colstonians who have achieved this honour.
Tom Varndell, Jordan Crane, Ryan Davis and Shane Geraghty (all Colston's 1st XV in 2004) have been grabbing headline news for their Guiness Premiership clubs. Such has been the success of Colston's Rugby in recent years that it is possible to field a team of Old Boys who have played Guiness Premiership Rugby or Celtic League in the last two seasons. We offer this selection:
Ryan Davis (Bath Rugby)
Tom Varndell (Leicester Tigers)
Spencer Davey (Bath Rugby)
Shane Geraghty (London Irish)
Alex Crockett (Bath Rugby)
Olly Barkley (Bath Rugby and England)
Warren Fury (London Wasps)
Alex Clarke (Bristol Rugby)
Lee Mears (Bath and England*)
Duncan Bell (Bath and England)
Alex Brown (Gloucester Rugby and England*)
Andy Lloyd (Ospreys and Wales)
Gareth Delve (Bath Rugby and Wales*)
Jordan Crane (Leeds Tykes)
Jonathan Mills (Llanelli Scarlets)
*not full caps
There would also be a very strong bench with the following, all of whom have also played in the last two seasons in Premiership or Celtic League:
Mike Baxter (Bath Rugby) Kieron Lewitt (Bath Rugby), Dan Smith (Bath Rugby), Sam Cox (Bristol Rugby), Jonathan Pritchard (Bristol Rugby). Mike Pyke (Edinburgh Gunners and Canada), Richard Bryan (Gwent Dragons), Rob Hawkins (Bath Rugby)
Please email the Webmaster (whose views are expressed here) with anyone who has been missed and views on the selection. Does anyone know of any other school who can compare with this in recent years?
