| Competitive sport is a vibrant part of our sporting ethos at Colston's School. Our games programme endeavours to promote physical health and social interaction amongst all pupils, whilst providing every pupil with the opportunity to represent the School in a variety of team and individual sports. All pupils have a chance to succeed at every level, and those excelling in particular sporting areas are encouraged to represent their school at county, regional and national levels. |

| PE Programme |

| As part of the ongoing development of the health and welfare of all our pupils, physical education is an important part of our pupils' sporting development. Pupils have every opportunity to learn new skills and to develop their talents whilst following a structured PE programme throughout Years 7-13. |

| Academic PE |
| |
The delivery of GCSE PE, AS and A2 level Sports Studies, as well as the BTEC Certificate in Sport and Exercise Science, enables pupils to develop their sporting performance through an improved understanding of sports physiology, diet and nutrition, health and fitness and the wide range of contemporary issues that surround the world of sport.

| PE / Games Curriculum |
| |
Pupils have 3 lessons per week (1 Hour 10 minutes per lesson). Games and Sport lessons are used to develop the schools major team games, whilst pupils have the opportunity to participate in a wider range of activities during their PE lessons.
Boys Games include; Rugby, Hockey, Cricket
Girls Games include; Hockey, Netball, Rounder’s/Tennis
PE Activities include: Badminton, Squash, X Country, Basketball, Gymnastics, Dance, Basketball, Volleyball, Mixed Hockey and Athletics. |

| Extra-Curricular Activities |

| Colston`s has a strong tradition of inter and intra school competition. Regular fixtures are played midweek and on Saturdays against other schools, as well as termly House matches. All pupils are given opportunities to participate in competitive situations, and encouraged to develop a regular and active lifestyle that is fundamental in all our lives. Colston's also offers a wide range of lunchtime and after school sports clubs that pupils can opt to participate in to further their sporting experience. |

| Colston's Sports Facilities |

Colston's can boast a wide range of impressive on-site sports facilities that include an all-weather hockey pitch, 6 rugby pitches (including a rugby training pitch), 2 cricket squares (with outdoor cricket nets) and one artificial cricket wicket, 6 floodlit tennis courts and 4 floodlit netball courts. The Sports Hall has 4 badminton courts, a basketball court and 4 indoor cricket nets. Colston's also has a very impressive Fitness Suite comprising of a wide variety of cardiovascular machines, weights machine and free weights. Colston's pupils are also fortunate to have 4 squash courts, table tennis facilities and a heated outdoor swimming pool on site. |

Colston's has a number of pupils currently performing at regional to international level in sports such as badminton, hockey, rugby, cricket, swimming, table tennis, and gymnastics.
Colston`s has had unprecedented local and national success in a number of sports including
National Indoor Cricket (Girls,) Bristol Schools Athletics (Boys and Girls), Rosslyn Park National Schools Rugby 7's (Girls and Boys), Bristol Schools Rugby 7's, Bristol Schools Cricket (Boys), National Indoor Rowing (Senior Boys), Daily Mail Cup Rugby and South West Prep Schools Athletics.
