‘Get Your Own Back’, in aid of Bristol Children’s Hospital

Last summer, 7EKY (now officially 8KD) raised £300 in total for Bristol Children’s Hospital. We did this by selling delicious ice creams for 50p and lollies for £1; they were perfect for the boiling weather we had.

The main attraction was “get your own back” – This consisted of pupils throwing dripping wet and cold sponges at teachers for a spot of revenge! Each participant would pay £1 for three sponges to throw. When there was a direct hit, the crowd cheered and laughed whilst having a fantastic time. Dr. Tovey was my favourite of all; although she only had her head poking through a small hole of a fat lady’s face, she came out soaking!

I suggested we donated the money to the Children’s Hospital mainly because it is close to us and because Mr. Yaxley’s wife works there. Also, when I was seven, I needed a life saving operation to remove my ruptured appendix.

Mrs Yaxley was most impressed when she saw the huge cheque and said that with the money they are hoping to buy a Nintendo DS and a colour printer for the playroom. Everything went to plan, and everyone enjoyed their lollies and watching the pupils getting revenge!
